In the past The Rite of Penance was more commonly referred to as Confession. In more recent times it is generally referred to as Reconciliation. There are three forms of Reconciliation.
The First Rite is celebrated individually between priest and penitent.
The Second Rite is a communal celebration with individual confession and absolution.
The Third Rite is restricted and is only use in exceptional circumstances.
First Rite of Reconciliation
The Rite of Penance is available in the church on Fridays at 6pm and Saturdays at 5pm by appointment.
Communal Rite of Reconciliation
This is usually celebrated during Advent and Lent as preparation for Christmas and Easter respectively.
