Baptism
Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation. By baptism we are incorporated into the community of the church and become God’s sons and daughters. Our initiation into the church is completed by confirmation and eucharist in which we enjoy the full participation as members of God’s family, redeemed and made One in Christ.
Infant Baptisms From February 2020, Baptisms are generally scheduled at St Thomas the Apostle Parish at the following times:
Please note, this may vary at certain times, depending on other events and dates on the liturgical calendar. Please see our Calendar of Dates or contact the Parish Office if you would like to check a certain date. We also welcome your child to our community at 8:30am Sunday Morning Mass on the same morning as the baptism. Parents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Session which is held once each month, usually on the third Sunday of the month following the 8:30am Mass, If you are interested in Baptism within this faith community, please read our Baptism Brochure which explains our process and fees in more details. Please contact the Parish Office regarding dates and availability. Once you have chosen a date, please complete the Baptism Booking Form and return it to the parish office as soon as possible. Children’s Baptism
If your child is older (aged 6 to 12) the process of preparing for Baptism is based on simplified version of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Please contact the Parish Office on 3398 1154 or stthomas@bne.catholic.net.au if you are interested in Baptism for your older child.

Adult Baptism
Adults who desire baptism enter into a process known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). This journey is normally undertaken
over a period of twelve months. For adults, the sacraments of initiation – baptism, confirmation & eucharist – are celebrated together at Easter (although in some circumstances it may be celebrated at another time of the year).
