The One Million Stars to End Violence project is a community arts initiative aiming to weave one million stars by July 2017 which will feature in a large installation at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games™. Schools, community and sporting groups, clubs, businesses and individuals across Australia are weaving stars to promote a peaceful society.
All parishioners are invited to be part of this unique mission and weave a star over morning tea.
Time: from 9.30am (after mass) Date: Sunday 7 May 2017 Place: Parish Hall, St Thomas’ Parish, Camp Hill
Everyone is welcome. Ribbon and instructions will be provided and there is no cost to attend.
The students of St Thomas’ Catholic Primary School have been making stars during lunch breaks, at Outside School Hours Care and at home. They have created 434 stars to date and some are hanging in a colourful window display at the school library. Stars created by the School and Parish will be collected, counted and sent to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games™ to join other stars created from around the world.
